One of the Largest Retailers in the US Launches a new Billion-Dollar Smart Life Lab Business Forging Entry into Consumer IoT

BigBoxCo1*, one of the largest retailers in the US, engaged Sprosty Network to teach their leaders about IoT while curating an authoritative consumer IoT assortment that led to a thriving new billion-dollar business. Sprosty Network also designed a transformative “low touch” retail lab, resulting in a Smart experience that senses customers and conveys solutions to them. This led to the new focus on digitization of the store.

The Challenge

The growth of Connected Devices has driven an onslaught of complex “do it yourself” solutions hitting retail.

But there are few-to-zero consumer insights on how to bring the experience to life in retail and online. With few retail best-in-class benchmarks, countless startup companies and no reporting on share, BigBoxCo1* was running blind in a space cluttered with noise.

The Solution

Sprosty Network’s team of operators worked hand in hand to curate vendors for an authoritative assortment, while commercializing IoT products for retail readiness.

We then designed new retail experiences and running retail labs, working together with BigBoxCo1*’s leaders.  We sliced our robust and unique market analytics by channel to identify which verticals and capabilities were the most likely to resonate with BigBoxCo1*’s customers by overlaying big data customer analytics and retail know-how. A thorough vetting and “Demo Day” event led to an RFP process ensued to vet many potential omni-channel players to the optimal solution.

The Result

Entry into what is now a robust billion-dollar+ connected health & fitness and smart home business. 

The unique customer value propositions fed into a new field of opportunities, including the Supercenter Smart Life Hub Store of the Future design.  Walmart now has new ways of interacting with customers with an exciting set of omni-channel experiments and has migrated the work into the digitization of the customer experience.
